Land Rover Defender (L663) - the heir to the legendary "Defender", produced in various modifications until 2016. The new generation of the model was created from scratch and does not have a single common detail with its predecessor. So he finally ceased to be a "workhorse" for army needs and turned into a completely civilian machine. The world debut of the new Def took place in September 2019 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The SUV received two versions - a three-door with a short base (Defender 90) and a five-door with a long base (Defender 110), which will be discussed later. The Defender 110 is available in 5, 6 or 5+2 seating configurations and has a luggage compartment behind the second row of seats with 1,075 litres. An optional textile folding roof is offered for the model, which allows you to stand up to your full height, as is usually the case on a safari.

The steel spar frame of the former Defender went down in history along with that car, and the British created a new generation SUV with a load-bearing body on the D7x aluminum platform, which also formed the basis Land Rover Discovery. However, in the Defender, the design is specially reinforced for heavy off-road operation. According to the manufacturer, the torsional rigidity of the body of the novelty reaches 29,000 Nm / degree - three times higher than the average for frame analogues. At the same time, the design provides for an independent suspension, spring or pneumatic.

For confident off-road driving, the Land Rover Defender has permanent all-wheel drive, a two-speed transfer case, a center differential and an optional active rear differential lock. It has small overhangs and large approach and departure angles of 38 and 40 degrees, respectively. The ground clearance of the vehicle with spring suspension is 291 mm, the maximum fording depth is 900 mm, and the weight of the towed trailer is 3.5 tons. The ClearSight Ground View system is also designed for off-roading, which displays an image of what is happening directly in front of the bumper and front wheels of the car on the central display.

The range of petrol engines includes the four-cylinder P300 (296 hp) and the six-cylinder P400 with a hybrid superstructure (396 hp). The diesel alternative is the four-cylinder engines D200 (197 hp) and D240 (237 hp). The gearbox is installed 8-speed, developed by ZF.

The Land Rover Defender (L663) is produced at the Jaguar Land Rover plant in Slovakia.
